Move Beyond Coal activists asked National Australia Bank (NAB) tellers on George Street, Sydney, on October 5 to tell their colleagues that NAB should not fund Whitehaven Coal.

NAB is helping Whitehaven Coal build and expand coal mines in Narrabri, in north west New South Wales, which would threaten part of the recharge area of the Great Artesian Basin.

The activists gave NAB staff a card encouraging them to fill out an anonymous survey about climate change and NAB’s involvement.

One customer told activists he was not concerned about NAB funding coal mines as he was making money. He then called the police.
