About 2000 people rallied in Sydney on February 23 to protest the federal government hosting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and its support for Israel's latest land grabs.

Uncle Ken Canning said: "The same murderous colonial mentality that is killing Palestinians landed here in 1788 and decimated us to 2.7% of the population. It is little wonder that [Prime Minister Malcolm] Turnbull welcomes Netanyahu, they are twin brothers in genocide."

Other speakers echoed the similarities between Australia and Israel — both are colonial settler states that violently dispossessed the original occupants of their land.

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign was also taken up strongly, with many arguing it was acting to delegitimise Israel.

The rally finished with a vibrant and energetic march, filled with Palestine flags, chants and calls for Netanyahu to be tried for war crimes.
