No to Max Brenner shop at UNSW

Protest at the University of New South Wales on April 30.

About 40 protesters rallied outside the University of New South Wales main library on April 30 to oppose the planned opening of a Max Brenner chocolate store on campus, and call for UNSW to adopt the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israeli apartheid.

As the call for the rally explained: "The Max Brenner brand is owned by the Strauss Group, an Israeli corporation which supports the Golani and Givati Brigades of the Israeli Defence Force. These brigades have committed war crimes against Palestinians in Gaza and are involved in Israel's continual ethnic cleansing of Palestine."

Rally chair Lutfi Zayed said” "Students and staff at UNSW say, 'We don't want to be complicit in Israeli war crimes.' We're going to keep this campaign going until Max Brenner is off campus."
