Red Chapters: The Murder of Sergei Kirov — Leningrad Communist Party secretary Sergei Kirov was assassinated in 1934. Stalin manipulated events to claim that Kirov's death proved the existence of a plot to bring down the Soviet government, despite evidence that the murder was a crime of passion. Kirov's death was the excuse Stalin used to begin the purge that killed hundreds of thousands of revolutionaries. SBS, Tuesday, November 16, 7.30pm.

History's Turning Points: The Battle for Vietnam — US marines landed in Vietnam in 1965 for what US President Lyndon Johnson thought would be a quick and limited war. The US had not bargained for the tremendous opposition of the Vietnamese people. SBS, Wednesday, November 17, 7.30pm.
