The family of Porter Burks, a young Black man from Detroit, Michigan, who was shot dead by cops, is demanding justice, reports Malik Miah.

Justice for Breonna Taylor

Four Kentucky police officers have been arrested and charged over the shooting death of 26-year-old Breonna Taylor, following a two-year campaign, reports Malik Miah.

Black men and women are murdered by cops and white thugs, and nothing happens. The criminal “justice” system legally backs the crimes of cops and racists as “justifiable”. It happens so often that African Americans initially just shrug and hold back outrage, writes Malik Miah. Then anger explodes when the truth is revealed.

On September 28 police in the central New South Wales town of Cowra shot Dennis “DJ” Doolan in the lower back or buttocks after a “confrontation” on a suburban street. Doolan remains in an induced coma at Orange Base Hospital.

Then, on October 3, an Indigenous man was shot by West Australian police in Broome. Police media alleged the 66-year-old man from the remote Indigenous community of Balgo had “threatened police officers with a knife” before he was shot.

The killing of two African American men in Minnesota and Louisiana in early July created an uproar across the US and around the world. In Australia there was lots of social media commentary and letters to the press about US racism.
