On Sunday, August 24th, we will join communities across Australia in a March for Palestine, continuing 80 consecutive weeks of local walks and vigils for Palestinian rights.
Gather at Reuther Park at 12:30pm to call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza being caused by Israel’s deliberate blockading of food and other necessities of life.
The march comes amid alarming United Nations reports documenting catastrophic conditions in Gaza. UN agencies confirm over 18,500 Palestinian children have been killed, while one in three Palestinians now suffers extreme food insecurity due to Israel’s blockade. Journalists and medical workers face systematic targeting, with hundreds killed while documenting the crisis.
After 80 weeks of weekly vigils, we’re urging our community to join this national call for justice.
Australia must follow the ethical precedent set during South African apartheid by imposing immediate sanctions, halting arms exports, and supporting the International Court of Justice’s investigation.
The Albanese government continues facing criticism for its military exports to Israel and refusal to impose sanctions, despite the ICJ’s ongoing genocide investigation. Economic pressure remains the most effective nonviolent tool to address the 77-year occupation and humanitarian emergency affecting 2.1 million civilians.
All community members are invited to join this peaceful demonstration. Participants are encouraged to bring signs supporting human rights and Palestinian self-determination.
