Why

Dear friends, dancers, and changemakers, You’re warmly invited to an unforgettable night of music, laughter, and dancing at the Rising Tide Fundraising Ceilidh! Whether you’re a seasoned ceilidh spinner or have two left feet, this is a night for everyone to come together in the name of climate justice.

Why are we dancing?

We’re raising funds to subsidise transport for as many people as possible to get to The People’s Blockade at the World’s Biggest Coal Port this November. It’s going to be one of the most powerful climate actions of the year – and we want to make sure it’s accessible to all.

Who’s welcome?

EVERYONE! Climate change affects all of us – across generations, cultures, and communities – so we want this event to reflect that diversity. We provide a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ folks, gender non-conforming people, First Nations peoples, children, families, elders, and anyone who cares about a fairer, safer future.

What to wear?

Dress for dancing! We suggest comfy clothes, plenty of layers (you will get warm but parts of this venue are chilly!) and sensible shoes for bouncing around.

What to bring?

A water bottle

Your dancing spirit

Cash or card if you’d like to buy drinks at our licensed bar; buy dinner from a food truck or make a donation

Did somebody say cake? (Okay, this part’s optional… but we do love cake!)

So much, in fact, that we’re hosting a cake-making competition!

If you’d like to enter, simply bring along your homemade masterpiece plus a full list of ingredients.

Cakes will be judged in two delicious categories:

Appearance – because we eat with our eyes first - Rising Tide theme perhaps?

Taste – because flavour is everything

Ready, set, bake!

Getting there

The Waterside Workers Hall is accessible by public transport – we’ll share more details and the best routes closer to the time.

Accessibility

The venue is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets. If you have specific access needs, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Grab your friends (ask them to register below) and join us for a night of joyful resistance.

With climate love and ceilidh cheer, The Rising Tide Team
