Join us for Bringing Back Love, a two part community event celebrating unity, culture and hope for Palestine. Named after a line in Palestinian writer Rafeet Alareer’s poem ‘If I Must Die’, Bringing Back Love invites everyone to come together and express support for Palestine in a positive and meaningful way, by making kites and gathering to fill the skies over Geelong with a message of hope and peace for the children of Palestine.
At the workshop (17th Feb @3pm), each child aged 5-12 (with their parent/carer) will assemble and decorate a kite with a message of love to Palestine in this fun, family friendly session. Please register each child for this event.
The kite-making workshop will be followed the next day by a community picnic open to all. Fly the kites you have made or bought high in the sky to show your love and support for Palestine. The picnic will celebrate Palestinian culture and include other activities such as face-painting, henna painting and storytelling for the kids. No need to register for this event. Bring your family, picnic lunch and kites to Rippleside Park at 12 noon on Sunday Feb 18th.
This two-part community event is brought to you by Free Palestine Geelong, Platform Arts and the Islamic Society of Geelong.
