Rally for our REEF - Stop Clive Palmer-owned coal mine

When

10:00am Wednesday 21 April

Where

Queensland Parliament
15 George St
Brisbane QLD 4000
Australia

Why

Clive Palmer-owned Central Qld Coal Pty Ltd wants to build a coal mine just 10 km from the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.

Not on our watch!

Join us to Rally for our REEF one week before the Qld government decides whether or not to reject this outrageous proposal.

Climate change threatens the very future of our beautiful Reef. Now is not the time to approve new coal projects - let alone a mine so close to the coast.

Government-appointed scientists have warned of “significant and irreversible damage” to precious Reef ecosystems if this colossal coal mine goes ahead.

WHERE: Outside Queensland Parliament House, 15 George St, Brisbane City

WHEN: 9:30 am - 10:30 am Wednesday 21 April (one week before the Qld government decision)

WHAT: Fun, colourful rally with speeches and opportunities to take action to influence decision-makers.

WHY: To urge decision-makers to stand up for our Reef and reject Clive Palmer-owned coal mine.

WEAR: Colourful/blue clothes to show the beauty of the Reef we're fighting to protect.

BRING: Reef symbols - coral, Nemo, dugongs etc PLUS friends

Note: this is a peaceful, family-friendly action that will follow COVID-safe rules.

Feel free to join us for a crafternoon next Thursday 15th April to help make props for the action! 4-7pm at Friends of the Earth above Reverse Garbage: 20 Burke St, Woolloongabba. Facebook Event for the crafternoon here: https://www.facebook.com/events/843858956484385/
