The UWA Defence and Security Institute is hosting a masterclass on nuclear submarines.
Nuclear submarines are weapons of war. Their purchase by the Australian government as a part of the AUKUS agreement is a provocative and dangerous step that has increased tensions with China.
But the warmongers who have organised this event want to explore the "opportunities" these new war toys present. And they've lined up Australia's top-military brass and senior politicians to deliver these talks on all there is to gain out of these dangerous and appallingly expensive nuclear submarines.
It is horrific that this event is about capitalising on and assisting the strengthening of Australia's military. The modernisation of Australia's army, the US-alliance and the recent purchase of nuclear submarines as part of the AUKUS deal are not a benign adjustment of policy settings. They represent a drive towards war.
Nuclear submarines and the endless pouring of resources into building increasingly sophisticated and deadly weapons should be absolutely opposed. That's why we need to protest this hideous war-fest.
