Why

How will councillors vote? Despite strong community support, many councillors remain undecided.

That’s why we’re calling on you to pack the council chambers with us on Tuesday the 12th! We'll gather at 5:30pm so councillors must walk through a crowd of supporters on their way in. Can you be there?

Please RSVP: www.risingtide.org.au/council-vote-rsvp

They need to feel the eyes of the community as they decide on an event that 66.5% of Novocastrians believe the council should support, according to recent, independent YouGov polling.

The People’s Blockade is a hallmark Newcastle event—a peaceful, family-friendly protest calling for a safe climate and transition funding for our region.

Whatever the council decides, the protest will go ahead. But with their support, it will be safer, more inclusive, and better managed for all.

Join us to put the pressure on councillor's to do the right thing and support the community's right to protest.
