Israelis protest against US policy

By Adam Hanieh

TEL AVIV — Around 50 people gathered outside the US consulate here on February 4 to protest against US policy towards Iraq. The demonstrators carried signs calling for the US to leave the Gulf and an end to sanctions on Iraq.

The protest was organised by Ibn al-Balad, an organisation based in Sakneen, an Arab village in the north of Israel. It was attended by members of the Hebron Solidarity Committee, which supports the establishment of a democratic secular state in all of Israel and the occupied territories, and the left-wing peace group Gush Shalom.
