The International Women’s Day Melbourne Collective asserts our support for the liberation of all women around the world. Our feminism is inclusive of trans and gender diverse people, and sex workers. We recognise the reality that trans women are women and that trans women experience, amongst other oppressions, sexism and misogyny. We reject any policing of who is a woman. This policing reinforces the misogynistic oppression of women in our society. We support the right of trans women to self-organise to lead the struggle against transmisogyny, and the right of trans women to participate in autonomous self-organising by women.International Women’s Day is a day of struggle for the rights of women, particularly working women. Women have the right to work in whatever industry they choose, free from stigma, discrimination, and state harassment – this includes sex work. Our feminism supports the self-organisation of sex workers and their demands regarding their work. We support and welcome the participation of sex workers in the feminist movement.

MARSHALS NEEDEDThis year's rally has attracted approximately 11,000 people. In order to keep people safe, we need marshals. The IWD Melbourne Collective can't do it alone. If you'd like to help, we'll be holding a brief marshal training session on the day (i.e. Friday, 8 March) at 4:30pm in the Trades Hall lower car park on Lygon Street in Carlton.Information: 0411 054 859Jiselle & ManricoWorkers Solidarity
