For the first time in Australia, renowned Palestinian psychiatrist, author, and human rights advocate Dr. Samah Jabr will be joined by local experts for an interdisciplinary seminar exploring the intersections of trauma, collective resilience, and mental health.
This evening will focus on the peripartum period, self-care in clinical practice, and the psychological impacts of conflict zones, offering insight for professionals working in health, mental health, social care, and advocacy. The event forms part of Dr. Jabr’s Australia and New Zealand tour ahead of the official launch of her new book, Radiance in Pain & Resilience.

Consultant Psychiatrist, Author, Former Head of Mental Health at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and internationally recognised human rights advocate. Dr. Jabr has written extensively on trauma under occupation and liberation psychology, and her work bridges clinical psychiatry and political resistance. Her upcoming book, Radiance in Pain & Resilience, explores the reverberations of historical Palestinian trauma.
Prof. Jon Jureidini
Child and adolescent psychiatrist at the University of Adelaide and Chair of Australian Palestinian Partnerships in Education and Health. Prof. Jureidini is widely respected for his work in medical ethics, early life trauma, and critiques of biomedical psychiatry.
