Why

Who is Kellie-Jay Keen? Keen is one of the most recognisable and active anti-trans activists in the UK. She has recently announced a speaking tour of Australia and NZ. Keen insists that she is not part of the right, however since 2019 she has given interviews with, posed for photos with, or appeared on the podcasts and shows of:

  • Proudboy activists, including one participant in the January 6th Capitol Hill riot.
  • Far-right Hungarian politician, Holocaust denier, and Islamophobe Hans Lysglimt Johansen
  • Canadian white-supremacist Jean-François Gariépy
  • US right-wing talkshow host Tucker Carlson

Keen has also defended far-right activist Tommy Robinson, claimed Trump represents the lesser evil in American politics, and teamed up with the Heritage Foundation (a conservative anti-LGBT think tank) to campaign against including sexual orientation and gender identity in US civil rights law.

Why are we protesting? Because Keen is on a mission to build links between the far-right and anti-trans feminist activists. The far-right are using transphobia to build support, and activists like Keen aim to link up the far-right with anti-trans feminist groups. Keen is part of the 'Hands Across the Aisle Coalition', which aims to connect anti-trans radical feminists with conservative Christian anti-LGBT groups. Keen's links with the right should be exposed, as should the bullshit arguments that transphobia is somehow about protecting women. Figures of the political right claim their transphobia is motivated by concern for women and children, and claim to represent majority opinion. Let's show Keen that Perth sees through her bigoted bullshit - we stand with trans people and against the right.
