Discussion: Housing and Capitalism
Thursday March 16, 6pm, Resistance Centre, Level 5, 407 Swanston Street, City.
The housing crisis is the worst since the 1930s. It is a humanitarian disaster.
Demand for housing and homelessness services has grown exponentially. Rents have risen by more than 25% in the last couple of years. Meanwhile wages are going backwards, and the cost-of-living continues to increase.
This is the direct result of our capitalist system that treats housing as an investment and dismisses the fact that access to secure housing is a human right.
Join the discussion hosted by Socialist Alliance on why capitalism can't solve the housing crisis and why we need socialist solutions.
