Early on August 16, Extinction Rebellion (XR) organised some 25 keen bike riders in Victoria Park to protest the continuing destruction of the climate.

We rode along City Road and King Street to Sydney Park with banners and a loud sound system playing Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

A radical playlist, the Pedal Rebels, alerted the coffee drinkers in Newtown to the existential threat we face.

Many of the passers-by cheered us on and joined the dance music.
