The Century of Cinema: Martin Scorsese — A thoroughly entertaining and educational look at US cinema through the eyes of a great director. ABC-TV, Sunday, May 30, 11.55pm.

Unknown Images: the Vietnam War — Previously unreleased and censored footage from the Vietnam War reveals how the massive US bombing of the north, and the use of napalm and defoliants (agent orange) fail to turn the tide of revolution. On the ground, the revolutionary forces evade the invaders while US soldiers fall victim to ingenious traps and mines that cause 10% of all US casualties. This episode also looks at the turning point of the war, the 1968 Tet offensive. Back in the US, opposition to the war grows. SBS, Tuesday, June 1, 8.30pm.

The Spying Game — A new series that explores the world of spies, a bizarre profession that reached its zenith at the height of the Cold War. The first episode, "Tools of the Trade", looks at the gadgets that have been developed. ABC-TV, Thursday, June 3, 8pm.
