Palm Sunday protesters in Meanjin/Brisbane call for peace and a ceasefire, March 24

The traditional Palm Sunday rallies for peace and refugee rights were organised on the 24th week of continuous protests against Israel's genocide against the people of Gaza. Alex Bainbridge reports.

Despite heavy rain, hundreds marched for peace and refugee rights as part of the 2023 Sydney Palm Sunday march, reports Peter Boyle.

Thousands rallied on Palm Sunday rallies around the country. More than 1500 marched in Melbourne in the largest refugee rights rally since Victoria's COVID-19 lockdown ended.

Rallies calling for the closure of refugee detention centres were held across the country on March 29. The Refugee Action Committee Canberra released this statement on March 25 in the lead-up to the rally. *** Activists from Canberra’s Refugee Action Committee (RAC) took to a boat on March 25 to highlight the plight of asylum seekers and refugees. The RAC activists held up banners advertising the upcoming Palm Sunday Rally for Refugees.
