Australia’s offshore detention centres

Released refugees are pleading with supporters to keep up the pressure on the government until all refugees are released from onshore and offshore detention. Chris Slee reports.

Located in the suburb of Broadmeadows, Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation (MITA) has been described as a "hidden hell for refugees".

A new Amnesty International report , has warned companies considering taking over Australia’s offshore detention centres when Broadspectrum’s contract expires in October that they would be participating in a deliberately abusive regime and would be complicit in “torture”.
