* End the freeze on asylum seeker claims
* Say no to another Tampa election

State Library,
Cnr Latrobe & Swanston Sts,

The recent decisions to freeze processing of all claims by asylum seekers from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, and to re-open the notorious Curtin detention centre, are taking us back to the dark days of Australia's recent past.

Refugees should be welcomed to this country, not vilified, victimised and used as political footballs to secure electoral advantage. Seeking asylum is not a crime - it is a human right.

Resistance Centre,
Level 5, 407 Swanston St,

Women today have supposedly never had it so good but this claim rings rather hollow when one looks at the facts. Far from being equal participants in society with men, women face a series of formidable obstacles. Will this ever change under capitalism? What can socialism offer?
