Free the Cuban Five

The Cuban Five are five Cuban men serving four life sentences and 75 years collectively in US prisons, after being wrongly convicted in the US federal court in Miami in 2001.

This peaceful protest rally will be held at the Wesley Church, corner William & Hay Sts, Perth.

Struggle Street - radio program on VOX FM 106.9, Saturday 5pm

Struggle Street is a long running program organised by the Unemployed Workers Union to help highlight the problems facing the less fortunate in our local, national and global communities, and to be their advocate. Discussion is varied, ranging from the effects of capitalism to politics, legislation, government action and inaction, and corruption.

Speakers include Chris Graham (Director, Media & Marketing, NSW Aboriginal Land Council) who will critique the ABC Lateline program titled "Sexual slavery reported in Indigenous community"; Tjanara Goreng Goreng (Aboriginal community activist who blew the whistle on the NT Intervention).

David Shoebridge (Greens Woollahara Councillor and lead Greens candidate for NSW upper house at 2011 state election); Peter Boyle (Socialist Alliance national convenor) will introduce a discussion on politics post the 2010 Federal Election and ideas on what now for the progressive movements. With a hung parliament & the Greens holding the balance of power in the senate, it is a time of significant possibilities for the Left.
