Public meeting: Behind Barbed Wire. Mandatory Detention and the Malaysian Deal

In June 2011 the Greens established a parliamentary inquiry into Australia's immigration detention system. The inquiry received over 100 submissions on Australia's refugee policy and what needs to change. Now the High Court has ruled that the government's plan to expel refugees to Malaysia is unlawful. This public forum will report back on the Parliamentary inquiry and the recent High Court challenge to the Malaysia deal. Join Refugee advocates and experts and Greens MPs to discuss commonsense and compassionate alternatives to offshore processing and mandatory detention.
