Young people harassed in six counties

Twenty-six per cent of 18-year-olds in the occupied six counties of Ireland say they have been harassed by British crown forces.

This information was contained in a report published in Northern Ireland on December 19 by the Committee on the Administration of Justice. It found a "disturbing pattern of abuse which cuts across religion, class, gender and employment status", according to its author, Dr Robbie McVeigh.

More than 50% of people who described themselves as nationalists said they had been harassed, compared to 20% who identified themselves as unionists. Almost 60% of students and 30% of working-class young people reported harassment.
