You will also, no doubt, be providing constructive alternatives to the policies of inequality and injustice which are being followed by your so-called Labor Government and its likely Liberal-National party coalition successor.

Congratulations on bringing together the two essential elements in contemporary politics. The realisation is long overdue that what "green politics" and "left politics" have in common is first, a whole system overview, and second, a radical-fundamental analysis within that framework.
If Green Left can develop a creative interaction between activists and the community then it will become an invaluable resource for change, and for the only kind of change which offers a sustainable future for people, and for the planet.
As media monopolies continue to close down our channels of communication it is vital that as many people as possible read, circulate, contribute to and own Green Left.
Enclosed please find fifty dollars for my share and forty dollars for a year's subscription — as an invalid pensioner I regard this as an essential investment.
Green Left needs to succeed. It will do so if we all make it do so.

It's a welcome event indeed to see a new broad left paper being launched in Australia. Congratulations to all those who have worked so hard to see this goal realised.
It is more important today than ever to highlight so many issues that all too often marginalised, ignored or worse, distorted by the commercial media or rather those who control it.
There is still a large body of people who are genuinely interested in the real issues of the environment, progressive politics and the plight of those suffering exploitation and repression the world over. Good luck with the Green left Weekly. I'm sure it will prosper and expand.

We are poorly served by most of the press in Australia. Large sections of the press have seen their role in this critical situation of war as simply transmitters of government policy and statements.
The lack of critical analysis, dissenting views or real debate has been disgraceful. Selected reporting of information, selected outrage and ahistorical presentation have made much of the reporting little more than war propaganda.
We need critical media, we need a press that doesn't allow politicians and media magnates to determine what are and what aren't issues.
The major political, social and environmental problems of our time are interlinked and I expect Green Left will both display and foster this awareness and prove a valuable asset in the struggle for fundamental social change.
