Why

To mark World Refugee Week, we invite our supporters to join the weekly 'Refugee Justice Vigil - Fremantle WA' on the corner of Parry Street & South Terrace.

Over recent weeks, the Perth community has rallied in support of the Murugappan family, the youngest member of which, Tharnicaa, has been at Perth Children's Hospital, reportedly recovering from pneumonia and sepsis. Current indications suggest that the family will be allowed to live in community detention in Perth, however real freedom, safety and security is yet to eventuate. Community detention is still detention; temporary visas are prisons without walls. We call for permanent safety for all people seeking asylum.

As the calls to bring this family #HomeToBilo continue, during World Refugee Week this year we call on the community to stand with all individuals impacted by Australia's violent and inhumane regime of immigration detention and temporary protection visas.

Please join us with your banners and signs, all welcome. #EndImmigrationDetention #FreedomForAll

We acknowledge that this vigil will take place in Walyalup on Noongar land. Sovereignty was never ceded, always was, always would be.
