Women picket Qld Labor

By Susan Price

BRISBANE — About 50 supporters of the Women's Abortion Campaign picketed the Queensland Labor Women's Conference on May 11.

The women were angry at the Goss government's refusal to act on the opinions of the 66% of Queenslanders who support abortion law repeal.

To emphasise their point that "It's criminal what Queensland's abortion laws do to pregnant women", the picketers dressed in black and wore ski masks and balaclavas.

WAC has also targeted the Nundah and Toowoomba by-elections, scheduled for May 18. A survey of candidates' attitudes to abortion will be published in the local press. n
