Wollongong University elections

By Andy Gianniotis

WOLLONGONG — Wollongong University student representative council elections were held October 19-21. The Collective Action ticket won the main SRC positions uncontested, most general representative positions and four of five National Union of Students (NUS) delegates.

Another left ticket, Activist Left, composed of Resistance members, won a general representative and the remaining NUS delegate. An attempt to unite the left tickets failed. Between three and five of the delegates will caucus with the newly formed National Broad Left caucus at NUS national conference in December.

The numbers of students voting was down from around 10% of the student population in 1998 to 5%.
