Port Augusta meeting
Are you concerned about how burning coal affects the health of the Port Augusta community? Or concerned about reports of dangerous climate change? Are you concerned about job losses if the power station is closed down? Have you heard about the plans for renewable energy developments in the area?
Join us to discuss these issues and more.
Members of the Climate Emergency Action Network will be presenting a short film entitled “There’s No Future in Coal” which documents the Just Transitions bus tour through the NSW Hunter Valley.
Dr Renfrey Clarke will outline the Zero Carbon Australia 2020, Stationary Energy Plan. This plan shows that using already existing technologies we can achieve 100% of our stationary energy needs from renewable sources by 2020. Those endorsing the plan include Professor Mike Sandiford, Director of the Melbourne Energy Institute, University of Melbourne who said: “BZE’s Zero Carbon Australia is an extraordinary and pragmatic roadmap to a new and more sustainable energy system for Australia, and ultimately our region, and I recommend it to all who are truly interested in securing Australia’s energy future.”
There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
