On August 25, 500 people braved unseasonal rainstorms to participate in a Walk against Warming rally for urgent action on climate change. The event was sponsored by the Queensland Conservation Council and other environment groups.

"Every household in Australia should be provided with solar power by the government, which can be paid back through savings on electricity bills", Greens Senator Bob Brown told the crowd at the final rally at the Riverstage, in the Botanical Gardens. "This is a climate change federal election coming up."
