WALK WITH THE PEOPLE. NOT WITH THE BIG POLLUTERS.
We're doing our bit on climate change. It's time to make our government do theirs.
Sunday 15 August
12:30pm
In key Victorian marginal electorates MELBOURNE, LA TROBE and DEAKIN.
There's a federal election on it's way. So we're holding a Walk Against Warming to demand that our next government faces up to their responsibilities on climate change. We'll remind them that to secure our votes, they must walk with the people; not the big polluters. This year we're taking our message for a safe climate straight to the people that matter most - the voters. We'll coordinate hundreds of Victorians in three key electorates to come together and letterbox the entire seat. We want to make sure that voters in those electorates know exactly what actions our leaders need to take on climate change.
That means that less than one week before the federal election, up to 300,000 of the most influential voters in Victoria will receive our safe climate message. How good! We need hundreds of volunteers in each of the three electorates to join with us on Sunday, August 15 and help us reach those influential voters.
On the day you'll get a letterboxing pack that includes leaflets (surprise surprise), a map of the area we would like you to cover as well as an info sheet full of transport details, emergency contacts and other bits and bobs. Each letterboxing pack is estimated to take 1 and a half hours to complete, so we encourage walkers to take 2 packs if they can. We also encourage you to walk in pairs (better to be safe than... you know the drill!).
