WA Democrats expel members

By Stephen Robson

PERTH — Thirteen members of the WA Division of the Australian Democrats were expelled at the end of July by the national executive. Those expelled included individuals on both sides of the faction-riddled branch. WA council president David Churches was expelled, as was membership officer John Samuel.

Others expelled include former Senator Jean Jenkins and senior vice-president Ross Carlton. Jenkins and Carlton were expelled following attempts through the Supreme Court to stop a ballot of members organised by Churches and others to dismiss all state officials.
