Residents of Fullerton Cove, on the outskirts of Newcastle, set up a blockade on Monday 20 August to prevent Dart Energy from drilling two coal seam gas pilot wells that are currently under construction.

The Fullerton Cove Residents Action Group wrote to Dart Energy questioning the lawfulness of the proposed drilling and asking that no further construction occur until the CSG drilling approval has been tested in court. Dart have told the police to move in and evict the blockade. The community have vowed to continue their fight.
