Vic firefighters to campaign over MFB ‘dishonesty’

The United Firefighters Union (UFU) is planning to rally outside Victoria’s state parliament house as part of a campaign against deceptive behaviour by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) board.

UFU state secretary Peter Marshall said on December 15 the MFB board had agreed with the union on a new enterprise agreement and explanatory memorandum to be sent to MFB staff for a vote.

But in January the MFB's lawyers wrote a new explanatory memorandum that gave a different meaning to the agreement.

The union took legal action to stop the ballots being sent out and will hold members meetings to consider a motion of no confidence in the MFB board.
