UNITED STATES: Jane Fonda joins anti-war movement

Issue

Speaking at an event in New Mexico on July 23 to promote her new book My Life So Far, actor and activist Jane Fonda announced that she was joining the movement to oppose the war in Iraq. "I've decided I'm coming out. I have not taken a stand on any war since Vietnam", she said. "I carry a lot of baggage from that." Fonda is planning a bus tour with families of Iraq war veterans across the US in March to call for an end to US military operations in Iraq. She will be joined on the tour by families of Iraq war veterans and her daughter.
