Trouble in the Edufactory: The Sydney Uni Strike and the Struggle for the University

Thursday, August 1, 2013 - 13:30

Join former University of Wollongong student Mark Gawne to discuss the politics of the Sydney Uni strike and its implications for education struggles more broadly. Mark is a casual tutor and PhD student at USYD. He is involved with the University Workers and Students Assembly and the Casual Workers Network at USYD and is a member of the National Tertiary Education Union. He helped organise a forum on precarious work at the University as part of the recent 'where to, "Enterprise U?"' series.

This discussion will explore some of the key political questions that have emerged within the struggle at USYD, as well as open questions concerning a broader critique of the university within late capitalism.

When: Thursday, 1 August 2013, 13:30 until 14:30

Where: CSE Meeting Rooms, Level 2, Unicentre Building (Bld 11), University of Wollongong
