'Time for a change'

Issue

Jim McIlroy, Brisbane

"Time for a change: Refugees; Iraq; Medicare; social services; education; Aboriginal rights. Join a range of community groups to say 'enough is enough'."

This call is featured on publicity for Brisbane's "Time for a change" pre-election rally on October 3, planed to coincide with the national "End the lies" rallies.

Speakers will include Rev Alex Gator, a prominent spokesperson from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, and Hassan Ghulam, a well-known refugee-rights activist from the Hazara Ethnic Society.

Organisations that have so far endorsed the rally include the Queensland Peace Network; the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union; the Textile, Clothing, and Footwear Union of Australia; the National Tertiary Education Union; the Transport Workers Union; the Socialist Alliance; the Greens; the Australian Democrats; Socialist Alternative; and the Refugee Action Collective.
