About 200 general and academic staff rallied at the University of Sydney on October 3 against management plans to cut jobs and services in the professional support staff area.

Management is proposing to radically restructure professional staff teams that provide important services to the university community by, among other things, merging staff help desks and changing the way the university purchases goods and service.

Speakers from the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) and the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) addressed the rally, before staff marched to the office of Vice-Chancellor Michael Spence.
