Students organise against Israel's war

Activists from the National Union of Students, University of Western Sydney, University of NSW, University of Technology, Ultimo TAFE and University of Sydney have established a cross-campus collective to oppose Israel's attack on Gaza.

The first meeting of the new Cross-Campus Gaza Defence Committee adopted a motion that: "opposes Israel's aggression towards the Palestinian people; calls for an Israeli ceasefire, immediately and unconditionally; calls for Israel to lift the blockade of Gaza's borders and end the humanitarian crisis; condemns the Australian Labor government for supporting Israel's war on Gaza; and offers its solidarity to those in Palestine suffering from Israel's bombing, and to students in Australia affected by Israel's war".

The committee is holding a "mass shoe throwing" at 12noon on January 21, near Fisher Library at Sydney University. Students are encouraged to join the email group by sending a blank email to: <campus_gaza_defence_committee-subscribe@yahoogroups.com>.
