Stop Taxing My Period Rally - Perth
The fate of the tampon tax will be decided this month! Every treasurer in Australia is meeting to decide whether to scrap the tax - but if just one treasurer votes no, this unfair tax will stay.
Come to this once-in-a-lifetime rally to tell your state treasurer that WA wants this tax gone!
What - Stop Taxing My Period Rally, Perth
When - Friday 14 August
Where - State Parliament House, Perth
Organiser - Emma Boogaerdt, WA State Organiser for the Stop Taxing My Period campaign
There'll be passionate speeches, cheeky signs and media covering the action - what's not to love?
Invite your friends and family - the more people who come, the louder our voice will be!
If you've managed to avoid the campaign: menstruating Australians pay an extra 10% extra in tax every time they get their period. That's because tampons, pads and menstrual cups aren't considered 'essential health goods' - unlike condoms, lubricants and sunscreen.
That's why university student Subeta Vimalarajah started a campaign on CommunityRun calling on the government to scrap this discriminatory tax. Her petition attracted 100,000+ signatures and made headlines across the country. The petition can be found here: https://www.communityrun.org/petitions/stop-taxing-my-period
After months of campaigning, we're nearly at the finish line - now it's time for a bold, ambitious rally in every state and territory across Australia!
