The Stingray Sisters are three incredible Kunibídji women from the remote Aboriginal community Maningrida in the Northern Territory. This eye-opening documentary gives audiences unparalleled access to life in a remote Aboriginal community, through the lens of three twenty-something sisters. With an Aboriginal mother and a caucasian father, daughters Noni, Alice and Grace Eather are navigating their 20s while moving as they always have between two cultures and two homes.
Managing constant challenges that most of us will never know, this fly-on-the-wall, observational documentary showcases what life is really like for a modern Aboriginal family including trying to stop the company that wanted to explore for oil and gas in their community.
Director Katrina Channells will be present to answer questions after the film. Raymond “Bubbly” Weatherall, from the Gunu Gunu clan and the Biridja clan of the Gamilaraay people, will acknowledge country.
