Speaking out for justice. Miscarriage of Justice Organisation (MOJO) presents Paddy Joe Hill of the Birmingham 6 and Gerry Conlon of the Guilford 4.

Friday, March 4, 2011 - 17:00

5pm (for 6pm start).

Both men spent a period of about 18 years behind bars for crimes they did not commit and in Paddy Hill’s case the authorities knew he was innocent from day one. Gerry’s story appeared in the movie In the Name of the Father. The MUA is hosting this event not only because both men are inspiring speakers but because their cases have some relevance today and they continue to fight on behalf of those who have been unjustly imprisoned. The Maritime Security Identity Card (MSIC) was introduced to stop terrorism. Our union supported its introduction to secure Australia against terrorism. Changes to the legislation mean that another 130 crimes will prevent people from having the MSIC renewed and effectively they will not be able to work on the wharf, ships or offshore facilities.

Tickets $20 (available through the Maritime Union, Craig Johnston [0438 518 822] or Mick Bull [0425 741 961]). Enjoy live Irish music and a BBQ. Drinks & signed merchandise for sale. MUA Auditorium, 46 Ireland St, West Melbourne.
