Slutwalk: Is this modern feminism?

Saturday, June 4, 2011 - 13:00

A Resistance Public meeting

Resistance Centre, Level 5, 407 Swanston St, City (opposite RMIT).

The controversial Slutwalk phenomenon sprung up as a protest after a Canadian police officer said that if women dressed less like 'sluts', they wouldn't get raped. What place does Slutwalk and the idea of reclaiming sexist words like 'slut' have in our fight against ongoing sexism in today's society? The forum will discuss these issues and the relevance of socialism as a way forward for women's liberation.

Speaker: Margarita Windisch (sexual assault counsellor & Victoria University teacher).

Organised by Resistance &; sponsored by Socialist Alliance.
