Environmental activists rallied in Melbourne and Sydney on August 25 in response to fires destroying the Amazon rainforest.

They demanded an end to the deforestation policies of Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro and called on world leaders to commit resources to stop the fires and commence reforestation.

A further protest was held outside the Brazilian consulate in Sydney on August 29.
