Romero remembered

PERTH — A rally to mark the 11th anniversary of the murder of El Salvador's Archbishop Oscar Romero was held here on March 25.

About 30 members and supporters of the Committee in Solidarity with Latin America and the Caribbean (CISLAC) set up a colourful display outside the United States consulate.

Robert Graham of CISLAC condemned the US government's continuing aid of some US$1.4 million daily to the repressive government of Alfredo Cristiani and his ARENA party.

A minute's silence was observed for all who have died at the hands of the US-backed military forces.

The rally was followed by a well-attended seminar at the University of Western Australia and a screening of the film Central America Under Fire.
