Resistance runs for NUS delegates

By Kamala Emanuel

NEWCASTLE — Resistance is running a team of three candidates for NUS delegates from Newcastle Uni. "Students are facing major attacks from the Howard government, and we would benefit tremendously from a fighting union to help support our campaigns", Newcastle Resistance organiser Alex Bainbridge told Green Left.

"This year, after several years of minimal presence on campus, Labor students seem to be making a strong bid for Student Association positions", Bainbridge said. "Resistance will be giving our preferences to other progressive candidates, including those from the Non-Aligned Left."

Resistance candidates for NUS delegates are Alex Bainbridge, Karen Fry and Paul Simpson. Bainbridge is also running for Arts/Social Sciences faculty representative on the council. People interested in supporting the Resistance ticket or helping to build the campaign against education cuts can get involved by phoning 265 328.
