Resistance campaigns at Qld Uni

By Freya Pinney

BRISBANE — Campaigning in the current elections at Queensland University has been even sillier than usual this year, with gimmicks such as champagne breakfasts on roundabouts, livestock exhibits and possession acts during policy speeches.

Amid the antics, there has been little talk of policies or student politics. Resistance is bucking the trend by offering a serious political alternative.

Its candidate for president, Sean Healy, says, "Resistance has decided to run for one position in the union elections because we feel that the real issues that students face too often get ignored in elections like these."

Resistance is running on three main issues: For Free Education For All; For Women's Rights and Access; For a Democratic Student Union.
