My World — South African exile Paul Thusi presents his weekly program on Sydney's Radio Skid Row (2RSR 88.9). Paul keeps the African community, and others interested in Africa, up to date with the latest news from the African continent and the African community in Australia. Out and Out — The national gay and lesbian show, Out and Out was initiated in 1992 by Sydney's 2SER 107.3 until funding ran out. The program for 1993 is being funded by the AIDS Trust of Australia and the Public Broadcasting Foundation. Out and out now goes to air every Tuesday, 9.30 p.m. on 2SER.
2NUR radiothon — Newcastle public radio is holding its annual radiothon. NUR relies heavily on its listeners for funds to allow it to broadcast programs that the "mainstream" stations in the Hunter region do not. The radiothon will run until August 15. Some lucky supporters will win a trip for two to the Gold Coast. Other prizes include a home fax machine and $1000 worth of petrol. Phone (049) 215 555 to donate.
Living on the Border — Over 12,000 West Papuans have crossed the PNG border since 1984 to escape the terror of the Indonesian army. Three thousand now live in a UN refugee camp. Ros Bowden visited the camp to talk to the people as they try make a life for their families while dreaming of one day returning to a free West Papua. Unknown Motown — If you love soul music and are lucky enough to live in Newcastle, tune into this episode of 2NUR's weekly Back Catalogue program. Music of the outer islands of Indonesia: Music of Sumbawa — Sumbawa is immediately east of Lombok. The Mbojo people live in the central eastern parts of the island.
