WOMAD live! — If you weren't able to scrape up the cash to travel to Adelaide for the World of Music Arts and Dance — WOMAD — Festival, at least you can listen in live on your wireless. WOMAD brings together artists from all over the world, showcasing the music of many different cultures, both traditional and contemporary. This year's WOMAD line-up includes Peter Gabriel (Britain), Salif Kieta (Mali), Shiela Chandra (Britain/India), the Szalai Gypsy Orchestra (Hungary), Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens (South Africa), the Holmes Brothers (USA), Yothu Yindi (Australia) and many more. ABC FM Stereo, Fri February 19 and Sat February 20, 8 p.m.

The Festival of Perth on the Nightly Planet — Musicians from very diverse places and traditions have been brought to Australia for the Festival of Perth. Many of them will be present in the studio with Robyn Johnston as the Nightly Planet presents a week of special programs. 11.05 p.m. every night for a week beginning Mon February 22, ABC Radio National.

Performance — An update on the theatre created for Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival. Martin Portus reports on Tony Kushner's two-part epic Angels in America, which deals with AIDS and bigotry in the US and is now being staged by the Sydney Theatre Company. ABC Radio National, Tues February 23, 10.05 a.m. and 8.05 p.m.
