Green Left Weekly will be hosting radical folk singer, David Rovics at St Luke’s Hall, Whitmore Square Adelaide.
David, has travelled the world, playing for audiences large and small at cafes, pubs, universities, churches, union halls and protest rallies. He has shared the stage with a veritable of who's who of the left in two dozen countries, and has had his music featured on Democracy Now!, BBC, Al-Jazeera and other networks. The 200+ songs he makes available for free on the web have been downloaded more than a million times.
The last time David was in Adelaide, along with Phil Monsour, we packed out the South West community centre and raised hundreds of dollars for Palestinian children.
This time we will be raising funds for Green Left Weekly, the only alternative, weekly newspaper in Australia. Each week Green Left speaks out for real solutions to the environmental crisis, to defend refugee rights, for aboriginal land rights and in solidarity with people struggling for justice around the world and it does all of this without corporate advertising money.
Green Left is a vehicle which brings our many struggles together, similarly we would like this concert to bring together the many and varied groups campaigning for social and environmental justice in Adelaide.
